01

Sell a clear evening, not an unclear seat promise

Publish the confirmed line-up, venue, doors-open time and show start. Explain unreserved seating and any included food or drinks. This admission journey does not assign seat numbers. Do not promise a seating map unless you have actually arranged that capability. Provide a contact for accessibility questions before purchase.

Put it into practice

State unreserved seating explicitly with the offer.

02

Keep presales focused and understandable

Early-bird pricing can encourage initial bookings while offering the same show. Explain this and set quantities and sales windows deliberately. Check capacity across all ticket types. Demo prices are fictional and only illustrate the choices. Do not use countdowns or scarcity claims that contradict actual availability.

Put it into practice

Ask someone to test ticket selection and the total on a phone.

03

Agree how late arrivals are handled

Comedy benefits from a quiet room. Publish start times and any arrangements for late arrivals. The scanner validates admission but cannot decide when the host should seat a guest. Resolve ticket and payment issues beside the main queue. Give hosts appropriate access rather than an unprotected copy of all visitor details.

Put it into practice

Brief the host on late arrivals and requests to sit together.

04

Test the evening from purchase to applause

Before announcing the show, complete a test booking and read the visitor confirmation. Try QR validation and a duplicate scan using fictional tickets. Agree what happens if a performer cancels or the programme changes, and where visitors can ask questions. Afterwards, evaluate sales and attendance separately: a guest count alone does not establish show profit.

Put it into practice

Budget venue, production, artists and ticketing costs separately.
